Don't Do It Poem by Loyd C Taylor Sr

Don't Do It

Don't do it, not for one moment!

Don't take for granted the joy of being free
The right to worship, the right to bow the knee.

Don't take for granted those who answered the call,
Those who sacrificed, those who gave their all.

Don't take for granted the food on your plate,
the water in your cup, your child, or your mate.

Don't take for granted the roof over your head
The shoes on your feet, your comfortable bed.

Don't take for granted those upon whom you rely,
The distances you can travel, or the places nearby.

Don't take for granted the songbirds that sing,
The dazzle of winter's snow, or the beauty of spring.

Don't take for granted the life you are living,
The gift of salvation and the hope of heaven.

Don't do it, not for one moment!
