Doorstep Steal-Away. Poem by Morgan Stanton

Doorstep Steal-Away.

Ding-dong
Sings the doorbell.
A familliar face fills the front door glass
But unexpected.
'Come with me'
Wisphers the visitor
And i've been taken away.
Down the front steps, into the night.
Oh, the beloved night.
How many secrets you must hold

I've been taken to the world unknown
The night shows more then any light could.
The only sound is the crunch of leaves
under my feet, and the unexpected visitors.
Trees surround the pathway,
The cause of the noisy leaves.

What I wonder is
Why have i been stolen away,
From the safety of my doory step?
As if the familiar friend read my mind,
He tells me:

'I must figure you out,
I can't sleep a second
untill i find out what you really are'

And you take me away from my home
Just for this?
Oh, what a strange world.
