Double Take Poem by Laurence Overmire

Double Take

She offended me
How could anyone be so, well
You know
She was everything I despised
And yet, to my horror and shame
I realized in a moment of
Insightful, dare I call it—prayer

I was just like her

Genetic or learned is
Hard to say
But somehow the replication
Duplicates itself completely
Without one's knowing
How then
Can any of us claim
Free will?
