Dowry's Flame Poem by Riya Varyani

Dowry's Flame

This raging fire of dowry's curse,
Has scorched countless homes in it's wake;
The fragile dream of a gentle daughter,
It shattered without a moment's ache.

Why should a daughter's hand to be sold,
Why should her worth be weighed in gold?
In a homewhere dowry is demanded,
How can her honor ever be upheld?

Come, Let us take a solemn vow,
To end this eveil from it's root somehow;
A daughter is never a burden to bear,
Her honor and worth, we'll always uphold with care.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
'Dowry's Flames' is a poem that reflects on the pain and injustice caused by the dowry system. It highlights how the value of a daughter should never be measured by wealth and how such practices can destroy dreams, dignity, and families. Through this poem, I hope to encourage respect for daughters and awareness about the need to eliminate dowry from society.
