Dragons Poem by Anya Thompson

Dragons

I try too hard to give you your freedom
Sometimes I fear it seems like neglect
Its hard to guide and yet not to crush you
I love you more than I love myself

Child of the Hurricane, a dragon and twins
Bringer of joy and of luck and of wealth
From the dawn of time to the end of the world
I love you more than I love myself

I know you’re not mine forever to keep
But a fragment of life that I have been lent
Nothing you do can change how I feel
I love you more than I love myself

You are my first born, my baby, my son
Remember in you I’ll always have faith
I’ll watch you grow and teach you to leave me
I love you more than I love myself
