A dream
That had me so high
I felt I could forever
Live on cloud nine
And when he
Looked into my eyes
Our souls intertwined
Savoring this feeling
Like a vintage wine
And, in that moment
I knew he would
Forever
Be mine
Beat for beat
Pound for pound
As his heart rate sped up
So did mine
And like the beat
Of an African drum
Our hearts danced
To the beat
That only lovers knew.
Awakened by
The sweet kiss
Of morning dew
This beautiful dream
No longer true
But it’s wonderful memories
I will always
Hold on too.
