Dreams Poem by Sam Popeil

Dreams

Last night,
I had a dream,
A vision.
It was so beautiful,
So perfect,
So true.
I coulda sworn it was real.

We were standing together on a beach towards the end of dusk.
The sun was setting,
Seemingly touching the ocean.
The ocean was as gold as treasure,
As it shined and reflected off the ocean.
The sky was bright purple and orange,
While the clouds were pink.

I grasped your hand in mine gently,
As we stood together in the sun.
I looked into your beautiful yet hypnotic eyes
Just as you looked into mine.
As I fell deeper and deeper into the trance,
I came to and said,
'I love you'

You giggled and shed a smile,
As you looked down at the ground for a minute or so,
Breaking the trance.
You looked back up at me,
With a twinkle in your eye,
And said,
'I love you too'

I pulled you closer to me,
As you pulled me closer to you.
I softly brushed your hair to the left side of your face.
As you put your hands on my face,
Just after I wrapped my arms around you,
Finally came what I was looking for all this time,
A kiss
In that moment,
I represented all of the losers that had one
All of the dreamers whose dreams had came true
All of the loners who needed love
And for once,
I finally felt accepted by a girl I love.

As I kissed your lips,
I could feel such warmth and emotion from within them.
I falling for you harder and harder each moment.
I felt everything was just right
I felt everything was the way I imagined
I felt everything coming together the way we planned.
I felt our souls meet.
I felt our hearts beat as one.
Nothing could've been more perfect.
During all this,
All the sparks we had flew away into the dim stars above,
Making them glow and shine just a little bit brighter.
Our sparks evolved before us,
What they evolved into..?
I have no clue.
But whatever it is,
Its the best emotion I've ever expierienced.

A few moments after all of this,
I awoke in a daze of dream and reality.
I could still see you perfectly.
But I could see my bedroom too.
I could still hear the squak of the seagulls,
And the rush of the shore.
And your voice which seemed to haunt and tease me.
I could still smell the ocean air,
And your perfume.
I could still feel your touch,
I could still feel the sand beneath our feet.
I could still feel the touch of your lips on mine,
Even after the dream.
I couldn't believe it was a dream.
I still ponder it to this moment.

It crazy how dreams affect your mindset.
I can still feel everything I felt,
Hours after the dream.
These feelings,
I never want to let them go.
Why can't my dreams ever be a reality?
Oh well,
For now,
I'll keep dreaming,
Because In my dreams,
I can always find you.
