Dreams Of Freedom Poem by Pensive Phoenix

Dreams Of Freedom

Rating: 5.0

I would share my time with grazing cattle;
Pondering their mind’s dimensions
And hope I’d find an answer
Mumbled in their cud.
Peace, it rests between us
And whistles through the air
The grass is turned to brilliant green
And the world it seems so fair
Maybe our fates are not so unalike
Perhaps we share a dream
Time could find us waiting
To share a cherished freedom
Where no duty would restrict us
Like blossoms in the air
We would dance in links between us
To birds prophetic prayer
And lie on grassy hilltops
In wonder of below
Innocence retrieved at last
We’d think happier to know
And rest under a blanket
Of sparkling little lights
And there we’d stay forever
With wind around our feet
To hope it was no dream of ours
But that we would finally be free.
