Dressed To Serve Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Dressed To Serve

Let there be Light within your heart
Let darkness wear a shroud
Allow it to the grave depart
And be in Christ endowed

Let evil beat a swift retreat
Let shame be yours no more
Receive the truth at Jesus’ feet
Where death walks out the door

Pay no regard to pompous fools
To rebels in disguise
Obey in Christ my sacred rules
And in His name arise

Rise up and take the cross I give
Take up the sword of Light
Go spread the news that others live
And join the righteous fight

You feel my love, you understand
You know my saving grace
You see the evil in your land
And every far off place

Put on the shoes of peace my child
Belt truth around your waist
That other may be reconciled
Divide my word in haste

Open the eyes of those yet blind
The facts of Christ impart
With true salvation on your mind
And love within your heart

Be firm my child in all my ways
In righteousness stand true
Remaining strong throughout your days
And join my faithful few
