Drifting Poem by Aimee Nell

Drifting

An ache in my chest,
A tightness in my throat,
Wetness on my cheeks,
As I stare into the night.
I know you're out there somewhere,
Waiting for me.
I let myself drift,
Drift into the night.
I become one with the darkness.
I feel out for you.
But all I feel is coldness,
Not the warmth of being in your arms.
I let the cold breeze wash away my pain,
And a numbness creeps in.
Darkness sinks into my eyes,
And I feel blinded.
From everything in this void
That I do not know.
I pull away...
And fall out of consciousness...
