Duck No Dey Sleep Poem by Chukwuebuka Adebayo

Duck No Dey Sleep

The children hope for miracle
The world pray for my light
My brothers are waiting for me
They know the duck no dey sleep
Not striving for lucks a cats does
When life is boring as hell,
That every bats fall dousing
I am always fighting sleep
As hard as a turtle try to eat a pebble
I'm turning the pages of books
I've got lists of assignment
I've got lot of beautiful dreams
Shaking it away off my head
I'm sincere like the baby duck
Just to see I'm alive and awake
But when I look for my mat
And I'm ready to sleep and rest
Let the monster under my bed know this
Please tell the world to be silent
Tell those women to lower their voices
Cox the duck is sleeping.
