Each Candle - Poem by Clara Diskley

My birthday is always the same
Every birthday I feel even worse and no
one could know that feeling
I'm turning 16 on Saturday but no one knows
The only one that knows is my only real friend

A true friendship goes a long way and stays
They don't turn their back on you and push you
around
I know that feeling and I've been there before

Each candle is a sad symbol showing I'm sixteen
How I'm treated younger and no one treats me how
they should
They think they're superior to me and I'm below them
