Each Day A Choice Poem by Channah Zimmick

Each Day A Choice

Once upon a time in a world that seemed grey
lived a small graceful child trying to find the right way.
Each morning he'd rise, a smile graced his lips
A mind filled with magic
He'd ready for trips.

To school he would journey, the heart pure would yern,
'If only they'd see me, there's much I can learn.'

The loud bell would chime, the room would fall hush,
the chalk board looked jumbled as pencils would rush.
Assignments presented seemed easy to do
The math and the english were not really new.

The day moved along, the schedule was kept
Yet something seemed wrong for he quietly wept.

What was it that made this young boy need cry?
What happened to shatter hopes in the sky?
Were bullys the reason? Were unkind acts the foe?
Were teacher's to blame? Do they even know?

Whatever the cause of this young ones pain
it's a loss to the world
A forever sad rain.

But out of the mist a rainbow can shine
One friend is all
Just one of a kind.
To stand for the soul so brilliant inside
One hand to grasp hold
One breath filled with pride.

Dust in the wind the bullys are blown
acts of unkindness no longer are know
If teachers at fault forever be gone
Let senses be strengthened bring knowledge upon.

So how will you use it
That gift of your voice
The world you can change
With each day a choice.
