Eagles Poem by Chris Todd, Jr.

Eagles

High in the sky they fly, Perched for their kill,
Fabric eagles search, For prey above and below,
Creatures of the air, Creaking and groaning,
Cold winds clash, And sting unrelenting,
For duty, honor, and country, They search the skies,
On patrol, Just as they know,
Out of the sun, Out of nowhere,
There was nothing, They could do,
All so young, Only 21,
Tracers rain down, Gunfire engulfing,
Bullets whizzing, Hand is shaking,
Splinters flying, Gas spewing,
Flames devouring, Nerves their last,
Flesh burning, Mind racing,
Actions taken, Decisions made,
Time to roast, Or jump,
Fate unrelenting, Now or never,
Cold breeze, Rushes over face,
All is peaceful now, All fear is lost,
Ground rushing fast, Then all is calm,
Another brave eagle, Falls to the ground…
