Early Morning Sun Poem by Michael Burgess

Early Morning Sun

I would love to see her rise
The early morning sun
Waiting wishfully for hope
To burn the darkness from my eyes
Certainly true
But just as an interim
It is a shame to watch the colors
Twist to dim
I pledged to preserve the brilliance
Perpetually
Unfulfilled and I am contrite
It is truly unimaginable
But still, I seek to accomplish
To bring everlasting glow
Despite the cyclic nature
And the other sides of day
I pursued
I declined
Even so
I would love to see her rise
My early morning sun
