early sunlight dances
on the break of the small lake
and through thin trees
i can trace a city in waiting.
folding the creases of a love poem
we enter your space by bus, air, rail,
soft as summers was;
it was rainbow in a glance of you,
how your hair fell as you cradled me
with softly, softly kiss.
i dropped the knee
at the foot of your fountain.
it's early morning now, years since.
minutes of blue light are no different
and the same songs sustain me,
like the sails of a great boat,
the roof is all that's changed.
