Eating In Heaven And Hell Poem by Dr. Harry Hamburger

Eating In Heaven And Hell

The banquet table was set
with the finest of fare
no food would be eaten
by the ones sitting there

One had a lion's head
and another had three legs
all stared at their neighbors
from whom they would beg

A long knife and fork
were attached to their arms
could not reach their mouths
so screamed words of alarm

Was a ladder rising up
to a much higher place
a silent angel stood guard
with fire shining from face

Another banquet table was set
in a room far above
guests smiled at their neighbors
feeding each other with love

Utensils were also too long
but hearts were just right
they had a great feast
up in Heaven that night

If your arms are too long to feed yourself, feed your neighbor, and have him feed you. Then you both can eat!
