Echoes In The Dark Poem by Alfred Ramos

Echoes In The Dark

Screams bounce off
The scented pine box
A ringing in my ear
To no one but me
Light absent and abstract
Muscles tense and taut
Perspiration races down my face
Followed by salty tears
Fingernails raw to the bone
Air stale with the aroma of death
Inhaling acrid volumes of regurgitation
No hope beats like a bass drum
Squeezing the aorta with a spastic clutch
Silence, echoes in the dark
I dreamed I was buried alive
