I walked once more the old stone path,
Where autumn whispered through the trees;
The air was thick with scent of earth,
And carried long-forgotten pleas.
The house still stood with fading walls,
Its windows framed in golden light;
I saw the laughter of my youth,
And felt the warmth of vanished nights.
The river hummed its ancient tune,
The wind recalled the songs we sung;
The fields, the lanes, the silent woods,
All spoke the words we left unsprung.
A chair, a gate, a rusted swing,
Held echoes of our fleeting days;
I touched the stones with trembling hands,
And wandered lost in memory's maze.
For time may sweep the world away,
And seasons claim both joy and pain;
Yet in nostalgia's gentle glow,
The past lives on and speaks again.
So let me walk these shadowed lanes,
And hear the whispers soft and true;
For in remembering what was mine,
My soul finds life it once knew.
