Eclipse Poem by Taylor Rosewood

Eclipse

There's a lunar eclipse over
Big Bear Lake, and I stand
by the water to view its
reflection.

All is inverted in this ancient
depression. White stars cross
my path and black snow's
overhead.

Tycho sits high like the stem
of an orange, pointing southwest,
toward the forests beyond,

and removing my shoes, my toes
become frozen, but there's fuel
in my veins, and I'm not going
home.

The moon is blood red and it
beckons me onward, into the
water, where it then moves
away.

Then reaching lake's middle, I'm
out of my orbit. My rockets are
spent- all circuits are
dead.

But my heart is still beating,
so I swim back to shore. My
friends brought more beer. I
think I'll have more.
