Eden Poem by William Morris

Eden

Eden's serpent had a fatal beauty,
As the desert and the raging sea.
We are not bystanders to these awesome creatures,
For each finds a home in me.

Soft, smooth hope rends tomorrow,
Unheard, unspoken dreams shape the world;
Webs of despair catch teardrops of sorrow,
Whilst sunlight in shards, by the broken gets hurled.
