Eden Memorial Chapels Poem by Lewis Eron

Eden Memorial Chapels

Death has a branch office just around the corner
Between the drive way to our nursing home
And the hospital’s parking lot.
You make a right at the intersection
And
It’s across the street from Commerce Bank
In the strip mall.

Its open everyday;
Extended business hours, of course.
And always someone is available for emergency deposits
You can’t miss it.

But now I’ll pass it by
Unnoticed
As I pick up some groceries
And go to the cleaners
And the hardware store
And the bank.
I’m too busy to drop in
And I can easily do without
Their shop at home service
Today.
