Eerie Darkness Poem by Patricia Kelley

Eerie Darkness

think about the challenges that I went through as a child.
And, to be honest, I didn't understand where God was when I was a child.
I didn't understand how a child could not feel safe in their own home.
I didn't understand the imbalance in our home.
There was eerie darkness in our home.
There were many times I didn't think I was going to survive life outside our home.
I saw no hope in our home.
I rarely felt love in our home.
I lived as a frightened child in my home.
While other kids were learning, laughing, and playing, I was trying
to figure out how to survive in my home.
My childhood was hell on earth at home.
