Emily's Night Poem by William Waterway

Emily's Night

so you fell in love, my dear Emily
and yearned for him within your skin
dreams, day and night, of his touch
his eyes, his lips, his cheek to yours
his smell, his breath, his voice
what is this love you bury so deep
that pains your life with passion weep
awakening you with wide-eyed torment at night
alone with your pounding heart’s desire ‘til twilight
