Emotional Relapse Poem by Daniel Bond

Emotional Relapse

Heart racing, ears throbbing, finally free,
the blade falls so unrestlessly.

Wounds may heal, the scars will fade,
Can he seriously pick up that blade?
Reminiscing in the empty hollow,
That lump in his throat makes it hard to swallow.

For all that he loves, for all that he cares,
So long has he been clean, that which he dares.
That plain flesh, so sweet and white,
Waiting to glisten in the maroon moonlight.

Tears trickle, dropping like sweat.
He knows it will soon be all over,
dreading the wave of regret.

Longing and lusting for his mistress,
for she is the only one to slice away the fear.
Every inch deep, that vein gets near.
Is this goodbye, to the loved ones so dear?

Masculine and strong, the bearer of many,
Broken and hunches, with nowhere to turn,
With yet an impossible life to learn.

The smile that filled her face,
He hangs his head in a teary disgrace.

Waiting to escape, bundled and confined within,
So are the secrets that keeps his body so thin.
