Emptiness Poem by Danette Frenz

Emptiness

Emptiness fills the space full of nothing.
My voice echoes back with mine alone.
Where are you? Where have you gone?
Darkness, a void, a slippery slope, I’ve known.
If only could go back in time, then I wouldn’t have to rhyme
Of sweet nothings, my heart missing you.
I would turn my day around
‘round and around like a merry-go-round.
Spinning and spinning out the memories of you,
Your voice, your touch, the sight of the light that I knew
A hue, that drew…me to you.
It’s too late…and as I sit here alone…
I am a shell of a girl I once knew.
You, still, inside of me, grew and grew
A love I’ve never felt before.
