Empty Rooms Poem by Alfred Ramos

Empty Rooms

I sense another sleepless night
Through my window creeps a moon so bright
Hues of blue and gold flicker through the satin curtain
As a candle flame dances in a breeze, uncertain

Moonlight used to caress your face
Your auburn hair draped the pillow case
A fragrance lingers in my head
A bouquet withers for love that's dead

Never thought you’d follow through
Never knew just what you meant
Never knew how much I needed you
Never thought you'd go, until you went

Morning comes and morning goes
Echoes ricochet off your empty clothes
Now empty stairs lead to empty rooms
Each one resembles darkened tombs

Now I wonder if you ever knew
That I never wanted you to leave
Never thought our love was up for review
Now it’s me here left to grieve
