Empty Shoes Poem by Laurence Overmire

Empty Shoes

There's a pair of empty shoes
In the hallway
Someone wore them
Left them there

One morning I woke up
and
There was nothing but shoes

Empty shoes

I wish I could go back
I wish I could find a way
But once the shoes are empty
There's nothing you can do

But remember

What it was like once
Long ago, I remember

I remember
Those shoes.
