Empty Triumph Poem by Varsha gautam sailwal

Empty Triumph

I said.. to lord...

'Is there an end to vanity?
Lord, send me thy voice..
I overhear my own echoes
these echoes are becoming noise..

thine eyes have seen me wander
across the scrappiest ways
thy love made me climb the ladder
that promised escape thru' sad days

that ladder, promised me to take
to your reaches, your arms, no blare
you said I'll wake, now on the top I make.
Thy blarney took me here

And here I see all have bowed to me
and they say bow we must
I am forlorn for I see none free
all are smothered in smoke and dust

I am an angel for them, a human less
down everyone bends on their knees
but nay, why don't i see the happiness
in my glory that everyone sees?

Is it the end of the journey of mine?
Is it that I cant see more roads
thou come here and make me fine
thou come, unburden my loads'

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
this poem is about a man who has achieved all possible success in his life. He recalls how hard his life used to be once but now, even if he has become as high as a king, he doesn't find happiness in the glory.

the concept in this poem is that if we have achieved something, and then if we think that there are no more roads left, then we'll be left out with nothing but grief. One should keep going ahead because SKY is the limit.
