Encounters Poem by Eugenia Dubinova

Encounters

Rating: 1.0

Sometimes encounters are just encounters.
Sometimes, you meet someone you can imagine spending a lifetime with,
only to walk away in the tender hope of meeting them again,
trusting the master to make your paths coincide, just one more time.
And never meeting them. Forever.

And for all I know, we could ask names,
try to play this scary game,
but we don't.
And from there, I have a field of my own game,
enriching you, in my head, with all the qualities I want to see in you,
giving us all the pleasant and euphoric scenarios,
with no pain in between,
with no sorrow,
with no separation, and no wrenching detachment.

But since I am feeding delusion,
pain is created too.
For all my dreaminess,
none of it will manifest in reality.
And as it goes,
we won't cross paths.
And you, as you carry on with your true life,
and I now carry the realization
that we will both, separately,
walk in different directions,
to remember the encounter,
forever engraved as a mystery.
