Endings
Peace
in the end
of family hardship
was more important
than the war
white flags raised on all
sides
a stalemate of differences
left to fester on the
bloody field
hastily buried, without markers
no one knowing really
who or what
had died
the sound of taps
enough to remind
the futility of
the siege.
