Enuma Elish (When On High) Poem by Lors Dilouley

Enuma Elish (When On High)

Come awake.
Burdens lay on either side of the road
Abandoned, as if something more important
was happening.
'Look! Look up at the sky! '
Hearts leap at Jeshua's return,
Expressions of bride and bridegroom united
Longings satisfied.
Creation is silent and solace is around.
Suddenly the burdens are lifted from the ground.
Jeshua now is thrown to the ground
Under a mountain of iniquity.
Rejoicing.
Shame fills the air as I recognize
my lust on His back.
Rage.
I turn away. To go, to run, to leave, to hide.
My fig leaves are sown.
Jeshua reaches out and i stop.
His eyes, they reflect my heart.
My heart is His soul.
'Eli, Eli, lama sabach thani? '
A great cheer.
Torn in two, chasm gapped.
Darkness laughs as light trembles.
Remembrance of horrors as i pierce His side.
Death.
As the rain clouds the sky, the burdens
dissolve.
God's tears break the broken.
A gushing wind blows me into a pit.
Trapped.
And then I hear it.
A trumpet, an earthy 'Hosanna'
from the rocks.
The Son shines.
Jeshua is my sky now. He reaches
once more towards me.
As i touch His robe,
My shackles split, the pit disappears.
Freedom.
I give Him the key. He kisses my heart.
Communion.
His body broken for me, now in me.
A part of me.
His blood, spilt for me, now engulfs me.
Bathes me.
I swallow love, peace, joy, patience,
kindness, goodness, self-control, faithfulness.
The hands, the feet combine and
run to meet their head, their lover,
the One they've so longed to see.
Weeping.
My bitterness aside, my anger removed,
my spots bleached.
I look like Him. I see myself in His
love. He is my love.
This beautiful face, that of a Savior.
That of a friend. That of a lover.
That of my God.
Hallelujah forevermore.
