Envy (The 7 Deadly Sins) Poem by Jillian Keenan

Envy (The 7 Deadly Sins)

Your invidiousness is blasphemous
you act as if you aren't blessed
obsessing over what you can't possess
I think it's just ridiculous
can you not see how devious
you hurt most of your previous
close friends and lovers, please confess
your envy has caused such a mess
you wish that you had more success
and that lady next door in the cotton dress
He's warned you before, but nevertheless
perhaps you need more evidence
you need to somehow learn to suppress
your feelings that you call emptiness
be happy and stop being so distressed
He will love you beyond the day of your death
but you need to find contentment in this
and cling to the Lord, it's time to profess
