Forever Poem by Jillian Keenan

Forever

He thought she was as beautiful as a lily in the spring
She thought I guess he’s good enough, good enough for a fling
He thought if he could marry her he’d be the happiest man ever
She thought… she couldn’t marry this man, no way, never ever
He thought about her every day after she had left for good
She thought she could never get away and was grateful that she could
He thought he couldn’t make it through another day without her
She thought she wouldn’t miss him if he left this world without her
Years went by and soon he died of dehydration and starvation
She cried and cried and realized for the first time that she loved him
One night she could sense his presence but couldn’t hear him whatsoever
He said I loved you and I’m sorry but I my love just couldn’t last forever
