Epitaph Poem by BASAB CHAUDHURI

Epitaph

A bird was lying in the corridor,
for how long was not known -
it was lifeless.

Beauty of the sky no more.
Such a death was in store!
The fall was unsettling.

A glass window reflected the tree,
the temperature was quite high.
Did it ask for water?

This is evening.
The bird did not return to the nest.
Did anyone feel its absence?

No missing diary!
no tearful farewell!

The sky is empty.
