Escape Poem by Lilly James

Escape

She sits at the rivers edge
Her feet dangling into the cool water
She sways her head from side to side
Staring into the running water
She contently stares at her feet
That have begun to wringle
She's happy to be there
To witness the waters calming effect
That seems to grab ahold of her
Leaving a dazed smile across her face
She's calmer than she's ever been
Wishing she could stay here in this moment
Forever never leave this memory
Fore in reality she's at home
They're yelling at one another
Her mom cries her dad swears
She's praying she can go back there
Her dream of a calmer place interupted
By a loud crash what fell
She wishes she could run
To that place so calm
Her parents would be mad if she did
Even though it's to protect
Her sanity, so she dreams of it
Waiting until she can return there
To that place in her calming memory
