Escape Poem by Heather Owens

Escape

spider webs
lining the dusty walls
footstep pounding the beat of my soul
faster the heart drum beats
stroking felt strings
plucking into motion
lungs full of sighs
aching muscles
give me lies
darkness awaiting
fingers brushing boundaries
ahead lies a nothingness
escapeless art
a painful reminder
an hopelessness never apart
from my self
fear chokes
suffocating
I will not be controlled
within reach
waiting for my touch
door of light
of daylight in sky
open just this once.

Escape from misery desperately needed. Nicely written.
