Estauriko A # 1 - Ang Krus (The Cross) - Poem by Yehoshua Shim'onai

Ang estauro ni Cristo
Ay hindi pagkasawi
Ngunit sa *Seol ay pagtalo
At sa kasalana'y paggapi.

(The wooden cross of Jesus
Is not a sign of defeat
But a victory over Hades
And a triumph over sin is it.)

*(Or Sheol) A Hebrew word for graveyard

Well the cross there is not literally the very cross where Jesus was crucified. The wooden cross in that poem represents the atoning sacrifice of the Lord for the salvation of many. I understand why you misunderstood my poem. However, we should also understand that in poems, we speak of things not in the literal but in the figurative way.

It's not the cross that my poem is concerned about - it is the work of our Lord Jesus Christ, as what you have said, that His atoning work is not a defeat but a victory. Therefore, we need not argue about it, for we do not differ in our beliefs. Anyway, God bless you, brother!

Praises and glory be to our God and King forevermore! ! ! : D

I appreciate your understand about the cross but let me just let you know a little about it. Cursed is anyone hung on a tree' this is the word of GOD. How could Christ become a sinner when he knew no sin! The cross, (tree) through there christ will be condemned to bear our sin. This was the way God planned it. So as a place of condemnation he took on our sins and so was defeated by the devil. The defeat was not literal but spirit. Satan did not personally defeat him. It was christ who gave himself up to be defeated for us. This is why christ said' lord, lord why have thou forsaken me' GOD forsook him because be was a sinner and GOD could not associate with him.(remember it was our sin and not his) so as a sinner, he had to go to where sinners are to dwell for judgement day(hell) now the victory of christ was achieved in hell when he had suffered enough and was justified. Then he made an open truimph of the devil. And freed us. Ressurected and presented the blood to the father. So it is wrong for any christain to wear the cross as a sign of power. It is not a sign of power but a curse. Remember christ was not the only one who died on the cross. Our victory is not on the cross but on the finished work of christ. The name of jesus and his blood is our victory! Amen! (Report) Reply
