Eternal Dreams Poem by Nightshade Starlight

Eternal Dreams

I open my eyes to the dark
And stare at the ceiling above me.
From the corner of my eyes
I can see the sun rising behind the curtains.
Its very faint, for it has not risen completley.
I watch as colors start to take form
From the night.
The stars are slowly dissapearing
As it gets brighter.

What a dream I had the night before.
The memory of it starting to slip away
And I can do nothing to hold onto it.
How I wish that I could keep that dream
Inside my head so I can relive it once again.
How I do wish that I didn't
Wake to this slowly rising sun
As I sit up, I put my head in my hands
And try to think of the dream slipping away.

One more day in the sunlight,
One more night of perfect dreams.
Dreams that take me on adventures,
To the slight wild and crazy.
I can't picture it now for its fading away,
But I know my dream was magical
And took me away from this reality.
How I wish I didn't have to wake up,
To a world that was cruel and heartless, yet beautiful.

I do very much wish that I couldn't
Forget the dreams I had the night before.
My hair falls around my face and I open my eyes.
The sun is clearly rising now.
I can see yellow through the curtains,
It peeks between the smallest gap and
Lights up my dark little world.
The birds are starting to sing, the people are waking,
The students are starting to come out to wait for school.

The dream is gone now and I have
To think about what lays ahead of me.
I can think of what's to come,
But the dreams still faintly whispers.
Lurring me for an eternal night.
An eternal sleep that i can dream.
Its calling me now and I know that if I go
That I will not return to this place
A world that is heartless and cruel, but beautiful.

I lay back down and close my eyes.
For Eternal Dreams.
