Eternal Friend Poem by Ekene NNECHI

Eternal Friend

And she saved me from me again
My eternal friend
Used as a vessel
To quench my burning desires.

She is no saint, I know.
But she is better than most.
She is no Spiritual Sister.
But a friend closer than a brother indeed.

She tears up your heart.
And shred your thoughts.
Leading you on and on into your own self-deception.

You did become her 'prey - prisoner'.
You have fallen for her -
her wits, her large dark eyes that sparkles, her babyish face
And then she leaves you to yourself but never forgetting you.

You did hear her say she "hurts in spiritual places ".
Using sacred symbols and phrases as these,
Driving you wild.

Yes, she is worldly (social)and brutal.
Yet, wise and decent enough.
She is smart and brilliant
And played you at your own game.

And just like a loving mother......
She chastises you with her frightening silence.
Calling you to order and to apply common sense.
With a mixture of malice (fright)and love.
