Eternal Hope Poem by Harry Gum

Eternal Hope

My eyes glistened softly across the sky into the night. I waited and listened for a small inkling of his voice. I gathered my thoughts in one knowing that I loved him more than life itself. The hope I had inside was cracked by fear and rage…..Why did he to come for me? I fell back gazing into the stars as my eyes closed listening for him.

My eternal hope was washed away as my tears fell to the sides of my cheeks. I will want no other and for that matter I was useless without him. I stood up in the night air remembering the last time we spoke. Overlooking the horizon ….was it all dream? Did you exist or only exist in what I called my mind? I frowned at this thought and then smiled looking down over the cliff I stood at.

I braced myself and the eternal hope I had for reuniting with him in a dark secluded place, made just for us. I fell quietly feeling the air rush by me. I opened my eyes only to be entwined in his arms. He kissed me softly and looked deep into my eyes……forever…..I love you!
