Eternal Links Poem by Monika Pavlov

Eternal Links

…And isn't it strange,
How nothing can change,
The story we've written,
In our core, a code hidden.

A snapshot to freeze time in pixels and frames,
As a glitch in the chaos, you and I remain.
Tagged in the core essence of the universe,
forever merge into one in all timelines diverse.

We play back our moments in endless refrain,
Finding each other through distance and pain.
Error messages speak truths we won't say,
But love lingers long after the program's decay.

I backed it up, back when we were on cloud nine,
Restore it whenever things aren't falling in line.
Late-night browsing, rewind, are you still online?
Waiting for a sign while chasing what's mine.

We lock each scar away, the past can be archived,
Pain doesn't erase love, cemented in our hard drive,
Check if our software's up to date,
It's been 8 years since our first date.

Fate keeps us tethered, though edges erode,
Our story survives in a corrupted code.
Wires and screens, through ones and zeros the matrix we roam,
But no matter how tangled the cords, we find our way back home.
