Eulogy Of Lost Love Poem by Kofi Nyame Morrison

Eulogy Of Lost Love

Again, we met under gloomy skies.

In dark costumes where echoes blend.

Mourner's voices whispered through the air,

As if our hearts were delicate and stripped.

The casket was bright with old memories,

A quiet proof of hidden things.

Desmond's smile, now it is caught in a pose,

Awakened the pangs of love once felt.

Across the crowded park, we glanced together,

Silent tempests in the midst of mourning.

I yearned to talk,

But sadness held me back, I could not confide.

Wine had flown freely and dulled its sharp regret;

Yet within its haze your face I can't forget.

My words they stumbled upon my mind's prison.

Tears and laughter twisted themselves into one knot.

Within a look a thousand stories spun around.

Of evenings shared, lost battles.

However, where tragedy rightfully belonged,

I saw shadows dancing against your face.

We stood there as strangers,
two lovers missing amidst sorrow and wailing.
Nonetheless, in that moment so brief but so sweet,
we spoke nothing but silence.
The funeral went by like a flash as did chance That could bring back love with only one view. Desmond sleeps now. Memory chains us all As mere ghosts bound by loving pain.
