Eve Poem by Barbara Vanier

Eve

My love is not close to me
My beloved is far away
Why is it always so
I sit and wonder, think and ponder
A life together just we two
My eyes have never seen my beloved
I have heard the wind bring her voice to me
Early in the morning I create images for my beloved
Messenger send this and go there
Tell my beloved I am here I lay and wait
I sigh at the moon the cold night air drives me in
I lay upon my bed and listen to my heart
It calls a name the first born of all women
My love is Eve the first and only
