Ever Receding - Poem by Nyx C Styx

be you as kind as to tell
me when the offered emotion
should shy in vain as you do
like an ever receding ocean
and return this heart of mine
that might not tell for whom
was ever and never so worthy
to cast it into certain doom

Topic(s) of this poem: love, melancholy
