darkness, sweet darkness
i used to be scared of you
i would beg to be out of your presence
but now that my heart was taken
my thoughts confuse me
my feelings get in the way
and now that everyone has left me
i am dead and in your arms

darkness, sweet darkness
this is for the best
who needs their heart
who needs thier thoughts
who needs their feelings
and who needs people
it's just me and you now

but i'm sorry to say
i'm alone and scared
i tricked myself into thinking i didn't need any of that
but the truth is

i need my heart that i was robbed of
that sweet heart that beat
my chest is empty and hollow and needs to be filled
it stays with he who stole it
the one that took my happiness
my joy
and every dream i ever dreamt

i need my thoughts
those sweet thoughts that kept me me going
the ones that i need for survival
the ones that were taken along with my heart
without it i can no longer think those thoughts i yearn for

i need my feelings
the ones that amaze me everyday
the ones that put a smile on my face
the feelings that get out of control sometimes
without my heart those feelings are gone

i need people
the ones that used to love me
the ones that believed in me
the ones that brought me up when i was down
but without my heart those feelings are gone
