Eye Opener Poem by Tayo Opoka

Eye Opener

Rating: 4.0

A cold blackness dawns on you
When you see that it's actually true
So true, there's not much you can do
Because it's finally gotten through:

This somebody you used to know
You never really knew at all,

Those demons you buried long ago
Reawaken causing you to crumble and fall,

The storm that you knew would eventually go
Was on hold to return causing distractions on your protective wall

It was all a lie, life's big blow
Those meant to protect you, now ignore your every plea every call.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
When you just realize that sometimes not everything is as it seems. You live your whole life thinking one way, and in the mere bat of an eyelid it's taken a turn and you're living in turmoil.

Beautiful piece of poetry that depicts disappointment occasioned by serious error in judgement, well articulated and insightfully penned in poetic diction with conviction. Thanks for sharing Tayo. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
