Eyes Poem by Paige DeRogatis

Eyes

Listen to the stories being told

That come not from words, but from what the eyes behold

These eyes tell stories everywhere

They only yearn for love and care

Some linger in the hospitals

Some are welling up with tears

Some search for scraps of food

Some have aged throughout the years

Some are glaring with strong envy

Others flutter with sweet lust

Some pierce the world with vengeance

Some glisten while they trust

With bloodshot eyes, she looks upon the ground

Her lips are trembling, but make no sound

Agony wraps itself around her

And tightens as she cries

It’s presence leaves no evidence

Except a look within her eyes………..

Very true how our eyes tell a story and not always the same as the lips.
