Eyes Don't Lie, Poem by Manon van Slogteren

Eyes Don't Lie,

Rating: 5.0

Following the snap shut sound of your zippo off and on,
believed to be alone.
I find you smoking on the porch overlooking the lawn,
believed to be alone.

Looking at you now, allowing yourself to grieve, a prison
without a prisoner.
Staring seemingly into nout, in unbroken battle withdrawn,
believed to be alone.

'Make do' the impossible shift, engaging in combat missions
on different side of
earth, to the family man in a plane ride, but Armageddon,
believed to be alone.

The way your jeans hang on your hips, not aware of the chill
still wear tan over
a hot body, you know how to turn me on, even
believed to be alone.

Busted! The snap close trick I love to see you perform stops
due to my presence.
You turn to me, ceased in thought a brave face putting on,
believed to be alone.

'Morning girl ', words quickly put together camouflage your unauthorized
leave and your rushing back from the batallion,
believed to be alone.

Words may try but your eyes don't lie, as I reach out my open hand invitingly,
overlooking the pain you trying to disguise for the sake of love.
