Faith Poem by ALLEN PHETOGO

Faith

The evidence of this that are not seen
It's what brings utter happiness to my life
Every morning l wake up and wonder, what
Does the world out there hold for me?
Is it bad, is good, but only he knows
I lost it ones, my life seemed
Meaningless, the riches of the world
Seemed to provide temporary happiness
It was great at first, but truly who could rely on that
That l say is what brought me down to my knees
Days pass by and I find it hard to sleep at ease
It was disgusting, demeaning and awful,
I tried to run it wouldn't allow me,
It held me down; it held me down l say,
I felt me dignity trickle away, it hurt both
Physically and psychologically
My freedom stripped away, l couldn't defend myself
Even reading the bible was a hustle
Evil spirits will tussle
Asking what are you doing?
Silently I'll regrettably give in, ululating are the sounds you would
Hear them make
Ke sale ngwana wa mokwena I'll try to pray
Moloki yo o nthusang o nthusa mo tsatsing jeno I'll try to say
By the time l finished they all went their spate ways
Fear of God the Father and Jesus Christ
Is what l dwell upon today

*Faith comes by hearing and only hearing the word of God*
